Rafael Blanco and Jim Consolini headed to our nation’s capital in mid-August to exhibit at AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems 2013, an annual conference focusing on addressing the most important trends, advancements and information impacting the unmanned vehicle industry. The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International is “committed to fostering, developing, and promoting unmanned systems and robotic technologies.”
Currently, no critical safety standards exist in the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, a.k.a. drone) industry. Rafael and Jim, from our Software Services business unit, recognized this trade show as a perfect entry point into the industry. “We feel this is a great opportunity,” Jim said, “to showcase our capabilities in avionics software testing for the quickly growing market of unmanned aircraft.” Though there are no critical safety standards yet, General Digital has enough experience to know that critical software systems will soon be involved in this rapidly expanding market.
Set up in booth 1844, Rafael and Jim explored the trade show, picking up valuable information along the way. In addition, they were able to answer many questions pertaining to how General Digital Software Services’ expertise in safety critical software testing will be a valuable asset in unmanned avionics and robotics. Having made contact with nearly a dozen qualified contacts, Jim and Rafael are confident that the unmanned industry hasn’t seen the last of General Digital Software Services.
